The care and well-being of the young people at the hackathon is our primary concern. To that end the following steps are in place, (as well as the rules)
Entrants are not allowed to leave the event unless accompanied by a supervising adult or a parent, even over 18s.
Staff with overall responsibility for the young people at the event are all police checked. Other adults connected to the event (judges, mentors etc) will be supervised in their contact with young people.
Spectators of any age will not be allowed, apart from authorised media representatives.
Parental approval will be sought for use of photographic imagery, e.g. in social media.
A thorough risk assessment has been carried out (see below) and entrants will be expected to adhere to the rules.
Personal and/or sensitive information about entrants will be kept confidential among a small team of organisers and will be destroyed / deleted within a week of the event.
Alcohol is not permitted at the event.
Smoking is only permitted outside of the building and entrants will need to be supervised.
It is parents' responsibility to make the organisers aware of entrants' special needs.
