2020 - 2021 ABIA COLLECTION
Jerome Pelitera presented Before We Takeoff at the Austin Bergstrom International Airport (ABIA) in the Fall of 2020 through the Spring of 2021, as a collection about the spontaneous moments between travelers, and more. Like many people during this period, Jerome faced challenges during the pandemic years unlike ever before. This collection celebrated our inherent connectedness, need for community, and growth in times of opposition.
His bold style showcases our vibrant-everyday community at ABIA. Using the combination of abstract patterns and sparking colors to recreate the feeling of a familiar face in the middle of a crowded room - or terminal. Jerome started his art career in California, mastering his technique at the San Francisco Art Institute. His inspiration comes from traveling, family, and being part of Austin’s rapid growth from a small college town to the nation’s capital of live music.
