Dr. Jaesoon Jeong is an Assistant Professor at the IDEC Institute, Hiroshima University, Japan. He earned his Ph.D. in Engineering from the Graduate School of Advanced Science and Engineering at Hiroshima University.
Dr. Jeong specializes in coastal oceanography and ocean numerical modeling, with research spanning ocean physics, particle dynamics, sediment transport, and biogeochemistry.
He received both his Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Ocean Science from Inha University, Korea.
During his Master's program, he investigated the mechanisms behind the significantly higher sedimentation rates in the North Port of Incheon Port, using field measurement data and numerical modeling tools such as FVCOM and CSTMS.
During his Ph.D. studies, Dr. Jeong used the SCHISM model to simulate the Seto Inland Sea and explored various oceanographic phenomena, including abnormal sea level rise, particle transport, and tide- and wind-induced currents during storm surges.
Currently, his research focuses on geochemical modeling to evaluate the feasibility of ocean-based carbon sequestration strategies.
