I have been teaching at Southwest since 2019. Before working here, I taught English at Hopkins High School in the alternative program.
I studied English and Gender, Women, and Sexuality Studies during my undergrad at the University of Minnesota and then stayed for one more victory lap to earn my Masters of Education in their graduate program.
My passions include:
Hiking, camping, and doing anything active outside, especially if it can include my dogs! I recently got into skijoring and paddle boarding with them.
Dog training and dog sports (I do dock diving and barn hunt with my pups!)
Traveling and road-tripping for outdoor adventures
Health, fitness, holistic wellbeing
MN Timberwolves
Pop culture (especially TV and movies!)
Social Justice
Reading books (especially on my Kindle!) and listening to audiobooks
Yep, that's me on the first day of school in 9th grade. I did IB in high school just like Southwest students-- in fact, my 11th grade IB English and ToK teacher is the reason I decided to become a teacher! I was in show choir, marching band, wind ensemble, choir, and participated in the yearly musical in addition to the rigorous academic schedule demanded by IB. My best friends in high school are still some of my best friends to this day! I'm here to help my students find their place in Southwest so their high school experiences can be as meaningful and memorable as mine.
