Many officially unreleased Monica songs have been scheduled, at one point, for release on records by the singer, including her seven studio albums Miss Thang (1995), The Boy Is Mine (1998), All Eyez on Me (2002), After the Storm (2003), The Makings of Me (2006), Still Standing (2010), New Life (2012), and Code Red (2015). For varying reasons, the tracks were ultimately rejected and, as of 2016, remain either completely unreleased or have been leaked onto the internet and seen release on mixtapes such as Monica: Made (2007) without gaining an official release. The singer's unreleased material includes songs recorded by Arnold as a solo artist and demo versions of tracks which were eventually re-recorded by other artists, some featuring established artists such as Fantasia, T-Pain, Trey Songz and Young Joc.[2][3]

Towards the end of 2006, Monica released her next studio album The Makings of Me. Titled after Curtis Mayfield's recording "The Makings of You", it saw her particularly reuniting with producers Elliott, Dupri, and Bryan Michael Cox; they had previously contributed to After the Storm.[28] The album received a positive reception from most professional music critics, with AllMusic calling it a "concise and mostly sweet set of songs",[29] and Entertainment Weekly declaring it "a solid addition" to Monica's discography.[30] While it debuted at number one on Billboard's Top R&B/Hip-Hop albums chart, and at number eight on the official Billboard 200, it widely failed to revive the success of its predecessors.[31] Singles such as snap-influenced "Everytime tha Beat Drop" featuring Atlanta hip hop group Dem Franchize Boyz and Elliott-produced "A Dozen Roses (You Remind Me)" failed to reach the top forty of the regular pop charts.[32] The same year, she made a cameo appearance in the American comedy-drama film ATL, playing the Waffle House waitress.

We next take some time to revisit the extensive discography of Monica to identify the best songs she has given us. When it comes to a legend of his caliber, it is certainly not easy to complete a list this short.

You will quickly notice that we included a whopping twenty honorable mention choices in addition to our Top 10 so we could properly celebrate many timeless songs that may otherwise go overlooked. Monica has given us plenty of outstanding albums and timeless songs and is no doubt one of the premiere artists of her generation.

The first thing I always ask my clients when they are choosing wedding music is: what is the general feel of your wedding? A wedding theme can help a bride and groom pick out songs, and it can help me better understand who they are as a couple. Is the ceremony rustic? Is it upscale? Boho? A traditional church ceremony? Is there a cultural theme?

Answers to these questions help narrow in the vibe that the music will create. A rustic farm wedding might call for Americana or Irish folk songs. An upscale downtown hotel might call for classical pieces or jazz. A traditional church wedding will likely involve Bach and pieces you might think of synonymous with weddings (Here Comes the Bride/Bridal March) as well as religious. Finally, a culturally themed wedding will include songs from that nationality or region of the world. For instance, a Chinese wedding might include old world folk songs like Cherry Blossom, with a modern flair like video game songs, or movie theme music. For a traditional Indian wedding, I improvised a lot in Eastern keys.

After picking out a few wedding songs, I recommend deciding where in the ceremony you need/want music. After a couple has chosen their wedding theme, picking out songs you each like is much easier.

This course provides older adults (primarily those with a working knowledge of the Spanish language) with an opportunity to practice and perform music in Spanish from around the world. Older adult students are introduced to Spanish music, literature, and singing techniques from their own and other cultures, and encouraged to express themselves through Spanish folk songs.

And she wrote them despite past advice against it from an expert in the music business and despite trepidation about the daunting universal catalog of holiday songs that already exists. Once COVID-19 hit, Rizzio decided to give her holiday songwriting dream a shot.
