I was born and raised in Phoenix, Arizona. Growing up I was always very creative and outgoing, as I got older I developed a love for the arts which included drawing and painting to dancing and acting. After high school I plan to attend community college through a program called YearUp where I will study and prepare for the corporate work force. I'm a hard worker and can always use my creative find to make my ideas a reality.
Throughout middle school I went through a phase of insecurity and shyness. I was riddled with anxieties about public speaking and being perceived negatively. When I entered high school and joined theater, I completely burst out of my shell. My previous anxieties slowly but surely drifted away and I became the bright, loud, and colorful me that I am today. I am now able to go through my classes knowing how to channel my creativity into my work and not being afraid to ask questions or speak for myself. All of my thanks goes to the theater.
When I first heard the prompt for my capstone video I was unsure of how much of myself I wanted to show. "An hour in the life" seemed very difficult for me to portray. So, I chose to connect my experience as a student online to my video. My friends and I are no strangers to sharing our experiences when it comes to virtual school so I drew inspiration from that and related a lot of the funny imagery in the video to that. Along with my personal experience I wanted to share a glimpse of my home life and family, in my video you can see religious symbols all around. Catholicism is a very big part of modern Hispanic culture and I wanted to show that.
I wish I would have included more diverse angles and shots. When I look back on my video, there are certain spots that feel very awkward for me and I know I could do much better now. I would also like to add maybe some dialogue and more shots of my home.
