About me

I am a writer and journalist based in Melbourne, Australia.

I write non-fiction, reportage, short and long-form fiction. I've appeared at various writers' festivals and events, including leading city walks at the Melbourne Writers' Festival, and my work has appeared in leading magazines including Griffith Review, Meanjin, Island, Best Australian Stories, The Age, The Sydney Morning Herald The Big Issue, Verandah, as well as on ABC radio. I was a staff journalist on The Age specialising in technology, and previously worked at The Melbourne Times.

In 2020, I completed a PhD in culture and Communications at the University of Melbourne, researching Australian historical fiction and writing a historical fiction novel based on Edward Oxford, the subject of my book A Walking Shadow.

I also teach creative writing at the University of Melbourne.
