International Charter School

After completing my dissertation research on school integration in gentrifying neighborhoods, I wanted to help implement one of my policy recommendations:  use charter school lotteries to create new, socio-economically and racially diverse schools in gentrifying neighborhoods, instead of trying to change existing schools (you can read an excerpt from my book below, which explores the rationale behind this recommendation). Thus, I became a founding  board member of the International Charter School, located in downtown Brooklyn, which opened its doors in the fall of 2015, and served as chair of the academic subcommittee for 4 years.
