Exhibition proposal: Interwoven World: How Fashion Connects Us - Exploring fashion as an interconnected universal phenomenon, Interwoven World showcases the rarely exhibited hidden treasures of the V&A’s fashion collections. Spanning the intricate textiles of 18th-century India to the West African batiks of modern Manchester, the exhibition directly challenges assumptions about cultural essentialism and appropriation, revealing how different cultures have intersected to create hybrid garments rooted in multiple contexts and traditions.
