I began teaching at SGHS in 2011, and I am proud to continue my career as a Herder. I earned my BA in French and English at Montana State University and added my Health Enhancement endorsement from Western in 2017. I earned my library endorsement from Western in 2023, and I am currently working on my Master's in library media.
I love reading with my students and discussing the fabulous books we have the privilege to study and analyze. Teaching and education are my passion, and each day with my students is an amazing journey. The library is a great place to come for help, stop in and visit.
My husband, Shawn, and I love Montana, especially the Crazy Mountains. My family has deep roots and I inherited a love affair with the Crazy Mountains which has spanned many generations. We have four children. Our daughter, Brannin, graduated from Northwest College with her business degree and Santa Monica College with her Cosmetology license. My son, Reilly, graduated from Concordia College with his Biology and Chemistry degrees and works for the biotech firm Aldevron. My youngest son, Rory, attends Montana Tech where he is playing football and majoring in software engineering. All of them are SGHS graduates. Kathryn is our youngest and attends BTGS.
Besides teaching, my passions include reading, travel, photography, volunteering, floating the river, camping, and spending time with my family. I love traveling in the summers with the International Club and experiencing new places with my students. I am always reading something outside of class, which means I usually have at least four books going at any given moment. Talk about books with me - you will earn major brownie points! I spend my weekends running after my kids, reading, preparing for classes, and if I am lucky sometimes at the lake.
You can usually find me in the library or journalism tech room before and after school. Please do not hesitate to track me down. I encourage you to make the most of your moments here. I have high expectations for my classes, so be prepared to stretch your mind, spirit, and aspirations.
