For some time I've admired these two objects and have wanted to see how they would jive together in a composition. The teacup is likely 1930's and was given to me by my grandmother. The teapot was an opshop find and seems to harken from the 1940's. 

When I collect antique items, I imagine and yearn to know the life they had before. Were these vessels used regularly or kept for best? What conversations were they witness to? As I painted, I imagined overlapping voices, quiet conversation, echoes of these objects' history.
