Jemma Cakebread is a Melbourne-based artist working in the fields of painting, textiles, sculpture and fibre. Her work reflects an interest in the workings of the body, both animal and human, death and decay, and the natural world. 

She employs techniques such as natural dyeing, garment construction and patchwork in both two and three dimensional textile work. She is interested in inviting the viewer in with soft, familiar materials and pushing them away with uncomfortable subject matter.
