I am an Assistant Professor in Computer Science at San José State University and the director of SKILLab - SJSU Knowledge-driven Intelligence and Learning Lab. My research focuses on knowledge-driven machine learning by integrating structured knowledge (e.g., knowledge graphs, domain expertise, prior context) with large-scale data and modern AI systems. My goal is to develop transparent, reliable, and impactful AI that not only learns from data, but also reasons with knowledge. I collaborate across disciplines to develop reliable AI methods that support societally relevant applications.
Previously, I was a Senior Research Scientist at Yahoo Research, where I worked on large-scale machine learning systems spanning product knowledge graphs, user understanding, and computational advertising. I earned my Ph.D. in Computer and Information Sciences at Temple University, where my dissertation examined context-aware learning from partial observations.
Research Interests: topics in Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Data Mining, Knowledge Graphs, User Understanding, Computational Advertising, Computational Healthcare.
