Jeffrey Lim (b. 1978, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia) engages in social art projects using cultural mapping, performative installation and photography. Utilising forms of conceptual representation with imagery, found-object, and space. He is a communication designer by training, and has been involved in cycling & accessibility advocacy. His current projects revolve around the Trades Archive initiative, a research & documentation, archival project/ apprenticeship.Building the Beca (2022) traditional hand-built tricycles; Kopi Lau Workshop (2023-current) local coffee culture.
Through mentorship & apprenticeship programs, A Tale of Two Hills (2022) visual narrative mentorship program; Tempok Pelendong Ang, Shima Sidek (2023) photobook publication, Kanta Studio Apprenticeship program, Maiko Kobayashi (2024/25).
With Kanta.Studio, Jeff intends to promote the traditional box camera and his art practise through workshops and road shows. His work with Kanta Portraits in Malaysia and Taiwan, a social exchange with indigenous communities, exploring the concepts of identities and the nation state.
