Araña, Jeffrey Cecilio A.
I aim to contribute my expertise in academe, business, operations, customer service, and marketing to a top-tier organization, enhancing local well-being and organizational success. By synergizing my skills, I seek to drive positive outcomes that elevate the community and the organization alike.
I didn’t start out with many advantages in life. Come from a working class, raised by a carpenter and a freelance property agent and with no ‘silver spoon’ to count on, I was determined to make my own way and Singapore was generous in the opportunities it offered me. It still is and I am determined to pursue. By profession, I'm an Electronics and Communications Engineer (Philippines), a national board exam passer, and organically directed to the path of information technology operations through banks, data communications, and enterprise IT.
As a professional system engineer I'm responsible for designing, implementing, & maintaining complex systems that meet the needs of an organisation's technological infrastructure. Main role is to ensure that all the components of the system work together seamlessly, and that the system performs optimally. My job involves a wide range of activities, including but not limited to:
1) System Design: Responsible for the design of the system, which includes defining the requirements, selecting the appropriate resources that are the hardware & software, & designing the network architecture. I make sure that the system design meets the organisation's goals, is scalable, and meets security requirements.
2) System Implementation: Champion for implementing the system. Involves installing, configuring, & testing hardware & software components, integrating them into the network, & ensuring that the system is fully operational.
3) System Maintenance: Tasked for maintaining the system to ensure its optimal performance. Includes monitoring the system, troubleshooting issues, & upgrading the system when necessary. Using archetypal tools such as Ansible, Nessus, Nimsoft , Splunk and Veritas.
4) Security: Taking ownership for ensuring that the system is secure. With a team of network, DBA and systems, we need to implement security measures such as firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and access control mechanisms to protect the system from unauthorised access.
5) Backup and Recovery: Ensuring that the system has a robust backup and recovery plan in place. I need to ensure that the system data is backed up regularly and that there is a process in place to recover data periodically in the event of a disaster.
6) Documentation: Maintain detailed documentation, with Microsoft's sensitivity labels of the system's design, implementation, and maintenance. Oftenly using O365, Jira or Workspace, is used to troubleshoot issues or activities, make upgrades, and train new staff.
7)Communication: I regularly communicate effectively, through WhatsApp, with other members of the IT team, as well as with end-users. I need to explain complex technical concepts in a way that is easy for non-technical users, apps system owners, and stakeholders to understand.
Overall, I am a critical member of an organisation's IT team which involves designing, implementing, and maintaining complex systems that are critical to the organisation's success. I have a deep understanding of hardware and software components, as well as excellent problem-solving & communication skills.
Assigned in a goverment agency project- and operations- based team which the main goal is to establish a working infrastructure and to migrate all existing legacy systems to a new tech refresh. With G50 clearance, I have skills in on-premise systems management, proficient in systems administration, deployment of Windows ecosystem, understanding of networking architecture and internet protocols, with experience on system and network monitoring tools. Have existing exposure in public cloud (AWS & Azure) and with experience in systems and network design and development.
Management reporting bi-weekly for capacity, account audit & review, and patch management.
A fast-paced working environment where things are always happening at a rapid pace. Working in this type of workplace, I often juggle multiple projects or tasks at once and always being prepared to take on something new with only a moment's notice.
I need to move between tasks continuously or carry out multiple duties and responsibilities at the same time.
In time, I learned how to adapt to this type of workplace and helped a lot to grow and prevent burnout at work.
Getting to know my coworkers and their tech responsibilities helped me perform my duties better because I can share, divide, and prioritize tasks accordingly. It also makes it easier to ask for each other's help. Building relationship with each of them I found it healthy for my mental-health and it event creates a fun, welcoming work environment.
I do set daily, weekly, monthly goals that are specific, measurable, attainable, relevant and time-based.

However, it's not always work for me without play or exercise. I do schedule my pauses in life to meet my work-life balanced needs. Only to gain more to give afresh after each pause.
For more than a decade in IT office environment, mobile infrastructure , IT project management and data centre operations, I gained progressive knowledge of systems and technology that corporate IT has to offer in this age. Improvements, changes, and systems being simplified are amongst those which surrounded my daily routines at work. Along the way, I found doing great the office administration and management, enhancements and control in operation processes, re-training teams for best practices, the ever needed collaboration system and the documentations needed. I can function well for a quality control; an office administration role with background in current close-knit office systems or perhaps a consultant that can be used as link and interface in between teams in and out of the IT systems. Operation lessened human factor mis-operations. Teams get more learned and abreast with the system. Audit finds improved and updated procedures. I manage to influence and contribute to such desired sustainable corporate culture.
Cost management through structured data analysis places myself into more in a management side of things.
Exit strategy experienced I am especially when an in-house system or group of systems need to be migrated or relocated or simply decided to shut down and divert to hosting to the cloud, private or public with security considerations.
A dedicated entrepreneur, specialising in leadership in cross-cultural environments, integrating operational, financial and technical requirements successfully through innovative use of industry knowledge and technological expertise.
