Over the years, the reliability of cars has improved significantly, yet this doesn’t mean car maintenance should be ignored. Making sure that the engine has everything it needs to run smoothly must go without saying. The first step in ensuring the maintenance of the engine is to check the engine oil. It must be done regularly for a car that’s in good condition, and more frequent if a vehicle has engine leak issues and other troubles.
Check the tire pressure once or twice a month, depending on the distance traveled daily. Before going for an extended road trip, be sure to check the pressure. A car owner must have the tire pressure checked when the tires are cold. The inflation pressure recommended by the manufacturer must only be used. Wash the car regularly to remove dirt and road salt. This will keep the car’s paint maintain its shine for longer. Fill the gas tank before it hits too low to not to let the engine pull from the bottom of the tank which could include all the extra junk that’s gathered there.
Follow up whenever car warning lights come on. Never neglect any of these signs, and if possible, address the issue as quickly as possible. Newer cars may require strict maintenance done by the manufacturer; regardless who will be doing the checkup, always look at the brakes. Check the battery and inspect its terminals and cables to make sure they are firmly attached and have no corrosion.
