Taylor Emery
Head Coach

Taylor is thrilled to begin her inaugural season as a head coach in 2026, bringing years of competitive swimming experience, academic achievement, and a passion for developing athletes.

Taylor's swimming journey began at the Rochester Swim Club at the age of 7. She competed in club through age 14, and continued at John Marshall High School until graduation. Some highlights from competitive career include being part of MN state record relay for 13-14 girls, participating in an All-American relay in high school, and surviving the long course 200 Fly. 

Outside the pool, Taylor has built an impressive academic career. She earned her bachelor's degree in Biological Anthropology from Loyola University Chicago and went on to complete her master's degree in Anthropology at the Mississippi State University. 

Taylor and her wife (a Jefferson alum!) call Minneapolis home, and she is excited to build a positive, competitive team culture while helping swimmers reach their full potential—both in and out of the water.

Maria Bavier
Assistant Coach

Maria has been coaching with BAC since February of 2024.

She joined her local USA Swim Club when she was 10 and swam competitively through high school. At The College of St. Benedict (St. Joseph, MN) she swam the Butterfly and the 200 IM and graduated with academic honors.

Maria went from being in swimming lessons to teaching them and hasn't looked back. She first joined BAC as a Masters swimmer. She loves combining her dual passions for swimming and working with kids of all levels.

Jonathan Bovee
Diving Coach

Jon has been not only the Bloomington Dive coach for sereral years, but also is a well-established coach at Gustavus Adolphus College, of which he is a 2019 graduate in the field of financial economics.

Bovee competed at the NCAA Region I Diving Championships in his senior year, taking 10th on the three-meter and 13th on the one-meter. He was also a MIAC All-Conference selection in the 2018-19 season. Bovee served as one of the team's captains in his senior season.

In addition to the accomplishments he has known with Bloomington, Bovee is also credited for much of the 2024 championship success for the Gusties, as three female divers posted NCAA B qualifying scores on the three-meter to help the women to their first championship since 2015.
