Century Theatre

In the heart of downtown Hayward, the 12-screen Century Theatres opened in the fall of 2008 on a corner that previously contained a Lucky supermarket. It was envisioned by city planners as a premier entertainment destination for residents of Hayward as well as the surrounding communities of San Leandro, San Lorenzo, and Castro Valley; serving as a more convenient place to see movies between the theaters at Bayfair and Union Landing.

The opening of the theater stimulated other development in the area, including a number of new restaurants, taquerias, and cafés. After a trip to the movies in Hayward, you are within walking distance of crepes, sushi, burgers, tacos, pizza, and beer, and many other mouth-watering choices. Parking is free, ample, and convenient. Century Theatres in Hayward is part of the Cinemark chain, and offers all of the most current and popular movies available.

While some were initially skeptical about the feasibility of a major theater in that location, it has turned out to be a successful enterprise.
