Caspers Hot Dogs
Caspers Famous Hot Dogs is a spin-off of Kaspers, originated in the 1920s by Kasper Koojoolian, an Armenian immigrant. Caspers, established in 1934 by Stephen & Ardam Beklian, and Paul & Rose Agajan, is now operated by their grandchildren. Known for its signature “SNAP” at first bite, Caspers is an old-fashioned style dog made from a street vendor recipe, and continues to delight hot dog lovers down the generations. Caspers has not one, but two locations in Hayward, this iconic one on C Street, and another on Foothill.
A dream came true for the owners of Caspers Famous Hot Dogs in 1989 when they opened SPAR Sausage Company. SPAR operates a state-of-the art sausage kitchen in San Leandro to guarantee that the highest quality products with the freshest ingredients are always available to the Caspers restaurants. The dogs are about 80 percent beef and 20 percent pork for a European flavor profile. The spice blend is a family secret.
This location on C Street is now closed. The location on Foothill is still open to serve Hayward fans.
