2022-present Académiques Latinxs Founder and Peer Mentor, UCI Cascading Mentoring Program
Co-founder and co-leader of interdisciplinary peer-support writing group
for Latinx graduate students. Multilingual space that welcomes Spanish, English and
Spanglish. We share strategies for developing and sustaining healthy writing
habits and navigating the hidden curriculum of academia.

Provided mentorship support to incoming first-generation Latinx PhD students in my
department.

Five-week certificate program focused on developing strategies for effective mentoring,
including developing awareness of diverse student backgrounds and motivations, gaining
familiarity with campus resources, developing skills in conflict resolution, and developing
a personalized mentoring philosophy and mentoring plan.
2022-2023 California Community College Internship Program
Year-long professional development program at Orange Coast College under
the mentorship of Dr. Jocelyn Falcioni. Developed lesson plan and implemented a three-
hour Spanish fundamentals lesson.
2022 Division of Teaching, Excellence & Innovation (DTEI) Summer Fellowship
Received training and certifications in Universal Design for Learning, Trauma Informed
Pedagogy, Anti-Racist Pedagogy
2022 Certificate in Cascading Mentorship
Quarter-length training on creating spaces of graduate student peer support. Received
training on supporting student’s research planning, academic writing, presentation skills, and
developing strategies for staying healthy in graduate school.

Year-long professional development program focused on the analysis and application of
research on pedagogy for higher education. Prepared and implemented professional
development training for incoming TAs, including a training on inclusive teaching practices

Presentation by Julio Torres, Associate Professor of Linguistics, regarding the effect of
language instruction on Heritage Learners.
2019 Hybrid and Online Language Courses Workshop
Learned strategies and new technologies for teaching online language courses.
2018 Teaching Practicum, Spanish for Heritage Speakers
Quarter-length study of current research on pedagogy for heritage language speakers led by
Julio Torres, Associate Professor of Spanish Linguistics. Discussed sociolinguistic approaches
to heritage language teaching, best practices for teaching standardized writing conventions and
providing corrective feedback and assessments.
2017 Critical Pedagogy Workshop
Discussion led by Tiffany Willoughby-Herald, Associate Professor of African American Studies.
Themes: the political nature of knowledge; teaching and its relationship to social justice and democracy.
