Here is my CV.
I am currently a postdoctoral researcher at Westlake University in Hangzhou working in the group of Alexey Cheskidov. Before that, I served as a visiting assistant professor at Purdue University for Spring 2024, and I served as a postdoc at the University of Texas at San Antonio working with my mentor Changfeng Gui from Aug 2021 to Dec 2023. I obtained my Ph.D. in May 2021 at Rutgers University, New Brunswick, under the supervision of Yanyan Li.
My research lies in fluid mechanics and partial differential equations, with a focus on scaling-critical phenomena and rigidity versus instability in incompressible flows. A central theme of my work is to understand how scaling, symmetry, and geometry restrict or enable extreme behaviors of solutions, ranging from steady states of the Navier--Stokes equations to ill-posedness and potential singularity formation for the Euler equations.
My Korean name can be written in traditional hanzi as 方濟馨. And I also simply go by Jay.
I am on the job market now looking for a tenure-track position.
