The Thermal Energy Systems Lab (TES Lab) combines fundamental heat‑transfer research with system‑level innovation to tackle key real-world energy challenges. Our work ranges from microscale two‑phase phenomena to whole‑building energy optimization, turning scientific insight into high‑impact technologies.

Core Research Themes

• Two‑Phase & High‑Flux Heat Transfer: pulsating heat pipes, microchannel architectures, and boiling and condensation visualization 

• Battery & Electronics Thermal Management: advanced cooling solutions for EV batteries, ESS packs, high-power chips, and data centers

• Next‑Generation HVAC and Heat Pumps: high-efficiency heat‑pump cycles, low‑GWP refrigerants, smart heat‑recovery, and temperature-controlled logistics

• Net‑Zero & AI‑Optimized Building Energy Systems: renewable-energy integration, AI-driven digital twins, and life‑cycle performance analysis
