1. How do I get updates?

All JDownloader changes are released via our custom built update system.

By default, the update button will start flashing once updates are available and they will be installed automatically the next time you close/restart JD or once you click the update button.

Small "plugin updates" are sometimes auto-installed in the background without any notification and do not require an application restart.

Smaller plugin updates can get released without a change of the build number displayed in GUI.

2. When do I receive updates e.g. after my support request has been closed or marked as 'Solved'?

Plugin updates generally become available within 0-5 minutes after the programmer commits work to svn.jdownloader.org, updates are then downloaded, installed silently with no user notification and are available to use without client restart!

Updates to non-plugin components require a "Core update". When Core update is released, default behaviour is for the client to pre-download, and indicate via flashing update button that an update is available to install. If you don't use any of these notifications, update will install on exit/close of application. JDownloader restart is required for core components to become available.

Core updates are not released every day!

In some cases, Core-Updates will be required for plugin changes too which can lead to delayed updates of single plugins while updates for other plugins are released at the same time.

Please do not ask repeatedly - wait until you receive an update which requires a JDownloader restart and only contact us again if you reported issue/suggested feature is still not fixed or working as expected!

3. Okay but I waited several days or more and there are no updates, why??

We call this a "build block".

Why does this happen? Unreleased Core components are required within Plugins, and creates this 'build block'.

Core updates can at times take many days to weeks to be released publicly, due to development schedule and testing.

We do not provide ETA for Core updates to be released, you will need to wait!

Did you solve the problem long term? I have encountered the same problem since a couple of month and jdownloader is practically not usable on my omv machine. Among reinstalling the plugin I tried a few things, but eventually jdownloader itself crashes and does not come up again. As a result only the backup jar file exists.

Jdownloader 2

You can go to the directory /opt/rockstor and create a new folder called rockons-metastore,

after this you have to create a new file called jdownloader2.json and copy all the text from my last post.

If you are using jdownloader2 beta, chdir into the cfg directory, where you should find a number of downloadListXXX.zip files where XXXX is some number. Shutdown jdownloader2, rename or copy the latest file into downloadList.zip (save your existing downloadList.zip somwhere if it exists), and finally start jdownloader2 and most of your download links should be restored.

I'm using JDownloader headless version on a machine. This headless install connects to my.jdownloader.org and chats backwards and forwards in order to allow you to remotely manage the JDownloader tasks.

For some time, and unfortunately I can't recall when, the UI fails to load. The issue manifests as the main UI loading but the specifics of the instance fails to load. The process eventually times out and returns to the my.jdownloader.org homepage. The instance dials home as I can see in the dashboard, I just can't connect/load that instance through the UI.

One thing is that JDownloader makes DNS requests which resolve back to a local address.

e.g.

192-168-86-250.mydns.jdownloader.org resolves to 192.168.86.250

127-0-0-1.mydns.jdownloader.org resolves to 127.0.0.1

I am using a fully updated (as of post date) edition of Garuda Sway Wayland. I have just installed and tried reinstalling jdownloader 2 from the chaotic repo. Whenever I launch the program I get no response and the program will not open.

I like jdownloader simply because of the sheer number of websites it supports. I use a lot of third party websites that don't have a dedicated downloader that works with them. Namely downloading video clips from them.

I was wondering what the best way to handle jdownloader or other download managers? Are they treated as seperate apps? Is the only way to deal with this via QoS policies? I'd love to hear about your experiences.

maybe some people know jdownloader2. its a download manager.regex is also used with the download manager.so i want to tell you what i basically try to do: i have multiple txt files with many links. all text files have file names, of course.i would like to drag and drop all text files into jdownloader2, so it decrypts the txt files and adds each text file to a package. the package name shall be the txt files name.what i found so for is this:

this makes jdownloader to crawl the links from a txt file. but the problem is: it gives every single file in the links an own name, because packagenamepattern has noe definiton. so it uses the original file names in the links to make packages. so if i have a txt file with 100 links, it will make 100 packages with different names. but i want it to read the 100 links in the txt file and put them all in one package.so.. how do i need to change "packagenamepattern" to make jdownloader2 put all 100 links from a text file into one package, and the package name should be the textfiles name. it has something to do with regex, i think (i hope im not wrong with my thinking)

appworks/jdownloader has multiple servers (this is just one) which supports multiple server based features within jdownloader (update/container services/ipchecks/etc). Economic considerations play major consideration and these cheaper providers do offer cost benefit addressing these. As open source project I don't manage those decisions personally just to acknowledge that we wont be moving our services just to address your applications blanket ipban on this service provider due to some (current/past) customers abuse.
