JDownloader provides two settings which are essentially doing the same: Limiting your max. download speed according to your preferred limit.

This is e.g. useful if you're part of a bigger network and want to leave some bandwidth for the other people in this network.

1. Pause mode

In the top left corner you will find a "pause" symbol right next to the "play" symbol:

When downloads are running and you press this button, the following things will happen:

- A speed limit will be active (see speedlimit setting in point 2. later on)

- JDownloader will stop once all currently running downloads have been completed

- If wanted, you can now adjust the pause-mode speed in the top right corner by doing a right click inside the speed graph (alternatively also in the bottom right corner, if you've enabled quick settings before, more details see bottom of this support article)

Notes: The limit you set for pause mode and the limit you set when enabling/disabling a "normal" speed limit are two different values!

Pause mode can e.g. also be used as a trick for non-resumable downloads: Instead of stopping them which would result in having to start them from zero you can just let them continue to download with lower speed.

In myjdownloader, you will find this setting under Settings --> Advanced Settings --> GeneralSettings pause speed

2. Enable / Disable permanent speed limit

See this article.

Once enabled, the speed limit setting will become adjustable.

Difference to speed limit set by pause mode: JD will continue downloading with your max. set speed until all items are completed.

The default go-to method for something like this would be to use a download manager, but nexus is refusing to let me use mine (says I have 0 of 0 network traffic available *shrug*), so unless there's a download manager that can be used with nexus, how might I do this?

Just out of idle curiosity, why would you WANT to limit download speed? That seems really counter-intuitive to me. As a basic member, you are already limited to 1mb/s...... creeping along in this day and age....

It's not that complicated really, normally we don't even need to care, because the download time at full speed for most files does not exceed an hour or two, and at worst we can time downloads so as not to tie up our network, such as overnight, but in this case, the download time would be significantly over 20 hours, and to download normally, this would limit/prohibit other network users, which is not acceptable, and thus is half the reason we use download managers in the first place, even 50GB of data can be downloaded at 20KB/s in "only" 28 or so days (the other reason is of course scheduling, JDownloader in particular allows scheduling times to download at different speeds, which with our setup cuts the above from 28 days to 16, something you just can't do with any browser we know of).

JDownloader, as mentioned, does not appear to work properly with nexus, and if we did download hundreds of files from nexus, we'd do them one at a time, as I've configured as the default, due to many hosting services having issues with multiple downloads. Additionally, I've configured it to download through a single connection as well, for the same reason of maximizing compatibility/stability over speed.

Presumably, nexus is prohibiting JDownloader due to a lack of premium, but, that doesn't really make sense since the there's an integration in place made specifically for doing this? In light of that, I Honestly thought I'd set something incorrectly with the JDownloader login/key config, but I've gone over it half a dozen times and I'm getting the same result each time where it connects to nexus and says I have "0 B of 0 B left" for Download traffic left, and it says "skipped - Account is missing" on trying to download any file (but it isn't missing, because when I give JDownloader my key, it get's my account detail, including an email address which I've never given JDownloader, looking into the message itself online, the error message is more or less a misleading default).

Still unsure what can be done in our case, though if there were a way to throttle an entire browser or computer's network access, that might work as a solution, but I've not yet found a way to do either so far.

Hmm, maybe I can get the download to start through a browser but have JDownloader grab the download...? I feel like I used to have a download manager that did something like that (though, I also remember this not working a lot of the time...), I'll see if I can try something like that anyway if only to rule it out.

Technically you can download any mods but it works best with the ones that have the "Vortex" button enabled on it. Otherwise you need to copy/paste the download link into Vortex, which is a bit of a faff.

JDownloader is a free and open-source powerful download manager written in Java. It allows you to download files from the internet quickly and easily. With JDownloader, you can manage your downloads from a single, centralized location without dealing with different downloader applications.

This open-source project has thousands of hosted plugins to extend its functionality. It is built using a modular and flexible architecture, which makes it easy for developers to add new features and functionalities.

JDownloader is safe as a vault in Fort Knox! But as with any software, ensure you download it from the official website and decline any offers during the installation. You will not have to worry about malware or viruses if you download the software from the official site.

JDownloader 1 was almost a de-facto standard for multimedia downloads and management from the Internet. The software is a true classic. But now JDownloader 2 (beta for a while) is out there with a stable release (since May 2016). The latest JDownloader 2 build includes interface adjustments, better performance, and +3000 supported sites.

JDownloader 2 has several tools and features that can help you get the most out of the program. The coolest features are the pause/resume, link grabber, download challenge solutions, and integration with VPNs.

JDownloader is a powerful download manager. It allows you to start, stop, pause, and resume downloads at your convenience. It splits user-specified download links into packages to enable individual pausing and continuing downloads.

JDownloader 2 allows you to download multiple files simultaneously from different site connections. In addition, if you are a premium user from a host file site, you can get multiple connections per downloaded file. Example types of these sites include Usenet, Adult content, multi-hosters, and video streaming. Downloading with multiple connections is a fantastic feature to increase your download speeds.

JDownloader can help you parse text or websites for links. Any downloadable file it finds will list them in the Link-Grabber view. The link grabber lets you quickly and easily grab links from a webpage and add them to the software for download. This link grabber can be used as an online media downloader to download videos and music from various websites like YouTube, SoundCloud, Vimeo, and Clipfish.

JDownloader 2 allows you to limit the download speeds. The downloader can hog your bandwidth, so this feature can be useful if your internet connection is shared among other users or if you use the Internet for other purposes while still downloading files.

The software has an automatic extractor (including a password search list). Set it to extract RAR or ZIP archives automatically. If archives are split, JDownloader can also automatically unpack those split RAR archives.

Another useful feature is its ability to integrate with VPNs. If you use a VPN to protect your internet activity, JDownloader can be configured to work with your VPN to ensure secure, anonymous downloads. In addition, you can set Jdownloader with one or many IPv4 or IPv6 proxies to rotate IP addresses, avoid wait times, and download faster and more privately. With a proxy or list of proxies, you can make the downloader automatically get a new IP address to save the waiting time with those sites that limit downloads to one address.

JDownloader can decrypt and extract files from encrypted containers using extensions .rsdf, .ccf, and .dlc. Some file hosting services use these containers to package multiple files for download. The software comes with about 300 decrypt plugins for various services.

JDownloader comes with its own OCR module. It also integrates with a popular automatic CAPTCHA-solving third-party plugin, so you can avoid manually entering captchas for downloads. The software is capable of solving and recognizing CAPTCHAs on many file-hosting sites. 152ee80cbc
