Hi everyone! This is the new JDHS JSA website! We have meetings every Thursday during activity period. Click Here to:
"The Junior State of America (JSA) was created by and for young people interested in what happens around them - from politics, to how government works, and contributing to their community. Since its founding in 1934, JSA has served as a place where students build leadership skills, learn civil debate, and strengthen their engagement through volunteering and activism. More than 500,000 students have graduated high school as more active, informed members of their community as a result of their participation in JSA." - Junior Statesmen of America
Led by Mrs. Cokeing, Dayton JSA is dedicated to fostering an open environment where members can freely express their thoughts and opinions while making friends along the way. Virtual Zoom meetings will be held every Thursday at 7:50 AM during activity periods. During meetings, members can choose whether or not to participate in debate resolutions ranging from "M&M vs. Skittles" to "Biden vs. Trump." Sometimes, debates are discussions about current events, such as the Black Lives Matter Movement, pandemic responses, and mental health issues. Due to the unfortunate circumstances, JSA will not be held in person. Usually, however, JSA members host four annual blood drives, attend multiple conventions throughout the Northeast, and advocate for local, state, and national causes.
Welcome to Dayton JSA! We encourage new members to participate in JSA to whatever extent they feel most comfortable, whether it is solely listening in on a couple of meetings, providing personal opinions, asking questions, or working on activism projects. We are here to help you find your voice and to amplify it when you do. Some of your best high school experiences will be made in JSA! Please feel free, if you any additional questions to email Mrs. Cokeing along with Abby and Sara (your Chapter Presidents) at jdhsjsa2020@gmail.com, mcokeing@springfieldschools.com or DM the @daytonjsa instagram account.
