Joint Commission on Ice-Ocean Interactions

The interactions between ice sheets and glaciers and the ocean are key to understanding how these systems will evolve in a changing climate. Drawing together glaciologists and oceanographers, the Joint Commission on Ice-Ocean Interactions (JCIOI) is a joint activity of IAPSO (the International Association for the Physical Sciences of the Oceans) and IACS (the International Association of Cryospheric Sciences). The purpose of JCIOI is to enhance connections between researchers and facilitate the understanding, observing, and modeling of ice-ocean interactions, including under ice shelves and at the front of tidewater glaciers.
