new owner trees on familysearch

This webinar introduces FamilySearch's new Owner Trees feature which allows you to create a family tree that is public, but not editable by others.  This is different from most of the trees of FamilySearch which can be edited by others. Click on the image to the left to view the webinar. 

To create your Owner Tree you will need to upload a GEDCOM file. (This is the reason this topic is for our advanced users.) To upload your file go to the Search Menu in FamilySearch and select Genealogies. Scroll down to the topic How is FamilySearch Genealogies different from FamilySearch Family Tree? Underneath is a button which says Upload Your Individual Tree. Click this button and you will see where to upload your personal GEDCOM.

FamilySearch is introducing new features to enhance your experience after uploading your GEDCOM:

• Editable tree: Your newly uploaded GEDCOM file will be a dynamic family tree that you can update and manage over time.

• Collaboration: You can invite specific individuals to help edit your tree.

• Integrated research tools: Your tree is now connected to FamilySearch's extensive collection of historical records and research resources.

• Upcoming features: Soon, you'll be able to compare your GEDCOM data with the Family Tree and copy matching information directly. Integration with popular third-party genealogy software is also in the works.
