Currently, my major research goals are:
A hot Jupiter is a Jupiter-mass planet orbiting very close to its star: its average distance from its host star might be only ten times the star's own radius!
Jupiter require a gas disk to be present when they form, since they need a reservoir of gas to accrete their envelopes. This must happen early in a system's lifetime before the disk dissipates.
The three main mechanisms that could assemble systems containing hot Jupiters.
