Speculation Opening Credits-Power Series

Created from a mixture of purchased and royalty-free stock images and videos and utilizing the original theme song from the original Power series, I created a speculation of what the opening credits might look like had the show been originally set in Los Angeles County, California.

Using locations from Hollywood to Long Beach and even including a self-photo-shop image of the U.S. Mexico Border Crossing, I imagined that business might take place on some lesser-utilized modes of transportation including Amtrak and Metro Line trains while also considering one of the most utilized modes of product transportation in the county, the Long Beach Ports.

I also intended to make the addition of cultural landmarks in the county, after all, what is L.A. without the fun? With this, I added in relatively newer features such as Staples Center, while also paying homage to older icons such as the Great Western Forum.

Speculation Commercial-Mount Charleston, NV

Created solely from royalty-free stock images and sound effects, I created a speculative tourism commercial for the resort area of Mount Charleston, Nevada.

Using locations in and similar looking to areas in Mount Charleston, I based the commercial on a simple compare and contrast to nearby Las Vegas, Nevada.

However, instead of offering up Mount Charleston as a total replacement for bustling, exciting Las Vegas; instead I chose to present it as a trip within/after a trip to escape and experience some truly tranquil relaxation before heading home.

Created from digitally-enhanced images from Epic's online catalog, grouped by photo-shop, as well as a mixture of royalty-free videos and music, I created a speculation commercial for the brand displaying the majority of their product line and their respective possible uses in under 30 seconds.

I intended to create a prospective day in the life of how someone who utilizes Epic products might be fueled by said products throughout this given day.

Though the videos are not of the same woman, I attempted to edit certain facial and body features from each woman to the point that the viewer would not notice such, but could reasonably deduce that all videos included the same person.

Speculation Commercial-Alila Ubud Hotel Bali, Indonesia

Created from predominantly available-for-purchase videos from iStock, Pixabay and Pexels (as you will still see the unlicensed watermark on two of the videos); as well as actual hotel property images; an underlying royalty-free nature ambient sounds audio track; another underlying royalty-free jungle sounds audio track; and a snippet of RY X's Cercle set, I created an immersive 2 minute long speculative commercial for Alila Ubud Hotel in Bali, Indonesia.

I tried to capture the surrounding environment and attractions more than the hotel itself as I thought that imagery would garner the most interest and thereby prompt viewers to look into the property and vacationing there.

Audacity and Ardour were used to edit and clean the audio tracks. Pixlr Suite was used to edit still photos of the hotel property. Kdenlive was used to merge audio tracks as well as to create and edit the video.

Some of the best activities on the island of Maui are beachside. From the old favorites of diving, fishing, surfing and snorkeling to more daring activities such as body or kite surfing, there’s always an activity to entice you offshore. On shore, Maui’s many tropical rainforests will take on the role of enticer as you navigate through a myriad of exotic flora and fauna while hunting for hidden waterfalls and natural pools. Or explore one of the island’s many massive cave systems or natural cliffside grottos, such as Ohe’o Pools or Wai‘anapanapa Caves.

For a tasty meal, engage a friendly local for a recommendation to an idyllic roadside cafe, where what began as an outing for a meal can quickly transform into a day full of exploration. A seemingly simple drive around the island is also a ‘local’s favorite’ activity as Maui is home to the well-known ‘Road to Hana’. This is a must-see natural attraction. All along the drive, you’ll be compelled to stop either to enjoy the view, take a picture of an amazing waterfall or picturesque cove, if not for the many roadside souvenir and fresh fruit vendors along the way. You’re also likely to encounter many cozy boutiques and artisan jewelry makers en route to your next point of discovery.

Treat yourself to a shopping spree at one of Maui’s many shopping centers. Shops at Wailea and Lahaina Cannery Mall are proven favorites for locals and tourists alike. Lahaina also frequently offers free live music and hula shows within the center. Whaler’s Village of Ka’anapali is known more for its high-end offerings and is a favorite amongst tourists. For a more casual shopping experience, you can try Napili Farmer’s Market or stroll through neighborhoods such as Lahaina, Pai‘a and Makawao for locally-made souvenirs.

BASIC PLUMBING MAINTENANCE TIPS

Basic maintenance can prolong the life and health of your plumbing and septic systems.

Here are a few that you can try on your own to increase the time between necessary professional servicing.

While this may not be the most profitable concept for us to adopt, we think keeping it honest helps build a culture of trust between ourselves and our customers.

Plumbing Tip

Foreign objects such as food scraps (especially potato peels, corn, flour or flour-based mixes and cooking grease) can create starchy or oily backups in your pipes (eventually spreading throughout your entire system). Avoid disposing of these items in the kitchen drain or garbage disposal and you'll notice a remarkably longer garbage disposal lifespan and time in between plumber visits.

Septic Tip

Though they can help your bathroom smell great, avoid using chemical additives in your toilet such as toilet freshener tabs and harsh cleaners. Because your septic system is designed to adequately handle acids and since chemicals tend to unnecessarily break those acids down, consider cleaning your toilet bowl with a natural, acidic cleaner like vinegar and saving the harsher chemicals for the toilet seat, handle, etc. You can still use a room spray to freshen up the room at no cost to your septic system.

There are many different types of trends, but identifying the most clear trends are the best bet for options plays ie. those that seem to be generally going up or generally going down.

Though every stock will have its general direction, all will have what some call ‘retracements’, ‘pullbacks’ or ‘retests’. Meaning if you see a stock is going up in general, the small moves downward along the way are the retracements.

Because every single stock has to have these (at least at some point), then that’s the action that you generally want to play.

For example, if a stock is steadily rising (overall)-there are two main ways to play it.

One would be buying a call and betting that is going to continue to go up (which is more of an unsure, long-term strategy), the other would be to catch it on its retrace and bet for it to go down. Likewise, if a stock is overall going downward, instead of betting on it to continue its downward motion, you are catching it on its ‘retrace’ up before it continues downward.

Note: You can also play the action in the direction of the general trend, but if you are looking for quicker turnarounds (between the buy and the sell), to prevent time decay (theta) and have your funds settle quickly for withdrawal by the end of the week-quick retracements may be a better strategy.

Not much unlike Plato’s exploration of the process of how the brain is capable of reasoning, Freud‘s method of psychoanalysis refers to how the human brain works in terms of conceptualization and perception and how these factors influence human behavior. Psychoanalysis includes three main applications: (1) Gaining insight into to the natural processes of the mind and the way in which it processes thought; (2) A particular theory set in regard to human behavior; and (3) The process and administration of treatment for patients displaying symptoms of psychological, mental and emotional ailments. Freud spotlights a type of patient classified as an analytic patient, widely known as an “analysand” which refers to a patient who, as a result of subconscious personal conflicts, is able to easily verbalize their thoughts in the form of free association. In contrast, Freud notes that some patients are their own adversaries by blocking and repressing their subconscious thoughts, words and feelings. Awareness of a personal discrepancy can bring about lack of personal responsibility and admittance of self, resistance to enlightenment, unnecessary defensiveness which translate into the mind’s refusal treatment as a response to registering a thought that they are being attacked.
