Joyua K. Brown is a woman of faith, an educated individual, a writer, and a mentor. She has dedicated her life to being an ambassador of Jesus Christ and has embraced her calling since her youth. Regardless of the challenges she has faced, she firmly believes in the biblical verse Romans 8:28, which states that all things work together for our good.
Joyua obtained her Bachelor's Degree in Education from Kentucky State University and remained determined to achieve her goals. In May 2023, she fulfilled her aspirations by earning a Master of Education degree in Higher Education and Social Justice.
As a proud and loving mother, Joyua has two sons named Steven and Emmett. She values spending quality time with her family on weekends and is committed to guiding her sons towards academic success. Additionally, she serves as a mentor to numerous college students, inspiring them in various areas such as life skills, college preparation, and spiritual encouragement. In 2011, she answered her call to minister, strengthen, and teach the people God placed in her path.
Currently, Joyua works as an Academic Advisor at the University of Kentucky. Previously, she served the student and staff community at Kentucky State University for over seven years. During her time at KSU, she coordinated and mentored several undergraduate programs. She also oversaw activities such as a women's bible study, book clubs, a women's community service organization called SIS, the Golden Girlz dance team, the royal court co-advisor, and student life program volunteer. It was through this work that she discovered her purpose and passion for helping college students find their own life purpose.
Since 2014, Joyua has been organizing women's programs and spiritual conferences through her business JBYDESIGN, LLC. These events have taken place in various locations, including Kentucky, Ohio, and Indiana. As a motivational speaker, mentor, and life coach, she has assisted numerous young ladies in navigating life's challenges and provided them with valuable resources. Her ministry platform was recognized for its community outreach at the annual Dominion Awards, where she received the "Impact Award" in Indianapolis, Indiana, in 2018.
Joyua also collaborates with her loving mother, Missionary Deborah Brown, as a Co-Founder of "Restoring Our Crown," a community program for young girls and teens in Indianapolis, Indiana. Furthermore, she co-authored the book "I Tasted My Tears Today," which was published in 2017. Currently, she is working on her own book, which she anticipates will be released in 2025. Apart from her personal endeavors, she is an advocate and supporter of the Lexington, Kentucky community, regularly volunteering and serving on community boards.
Joyua lives by the motto, "When life circumstances catch you off guard, you have to make the choice to either sink or swim."
