1. When and where is the retreat?

September 29th (beginning at 9 am- Check in starts at 8:00 am) until September 30th (ending at noon) at the Biosphere 2. If you have questions about our the Biosphere 2 or how to get there, check out the Venue page.

2. What should I bring to the retreat?

• Comfortable clothes--in the evening it may get cold, plan to pack accordingly.

• Shoes that are comfortable for walking.

• Personal items including toiletries, medications, or any other essential items you need to stay overnight.

• Water bottle

• Sunscreen and bug spray

• Snacks (optional)

• Something to take notes with--highly recommended for ABBS students looking for rotations.

• If you are presenting a poster, please bring your poster.

3. Where will we be sleeping?

We will be staying at the Biosphere 2 in casitas. You and a roommate will share a casita with other roommate pairs for the night. If you have more questions, feel free to check out the Biosphere 2 website, talk to someone who has attended before, or contact the planning committee for specific questions.

4. What food will be provided?

Breakfast, lunch, and dinner will be provided on Friday and breakfast and lunch will be provided on Saturday. Please indicate any dietary restrictions on your registration form and contact the retreat committee with any specific questions.

5.  How early do I need to arrive?

Please arrive early enough to park, check-in (get your room key and t-shirt, etc.), put your things in your room, eat breakfast, and be ready for talks to begin promptly at 9. Check-in begins as early as 8, and will end at 8:50 am at the latest. If you arrive late please find a member of the retreat committee to sign in. If you know you will be arriving late please let the committee know beforehand.

6.  What can I do during free time?

Check out the Biosphere exhibits (free!), take a walk, hang out with friends, meet new people, play games (bringing cards or board games is encouraged!).

7.  How long are student talks?

15 minutes, with 5 minutes for questions.

8. How big should my poster be?

A maximum of 48"x48".
