If you want immersive sound isolation and massive battery life for deep focus, choose JBL Tune 670NC; if you need situational awareness and a secure fit for active movement, choose LOBKIN Open Ear Headphones.
• JBL Tune 670NC: Offers adaptive noise cancelling and up to 70 hours of playtime, but blocks out your surroundings when active ANC is on. Best for the student who needs total silence to study or commute without distractions.
• LOBKIN Open Ear Headphones: Features air conduction with built-in storage and an IPX7 waterproof rating, but lacks active noise cancellation entirely. Best for the runner or cyclist who needs to hear traffic while listening to music or podcasts.
The JBL Tune 670NC is engineered specifically for those who view headphones as a tool for concentration. Its defining feature is the Adaptive Noise Cancelling system, which actively filters out background chatter, HVAC hums, and transit noise. This makes it the ideal choice for anyone trying to find the best over ear headphones for study in a noisy environment like a dorm room, coffee shop, or busy train car. When you engage this mode, the world drops away, leaving only the audio stream. If you prefer to stay aware of your surroundings without taking the headphones off, the Smart Ambient modes—Ambient Aware and TalkThru—allow voices and alerts to pass through clearly, giving you control over your auditory environment.
Sound quality is another pillar of this design. The unit delivers what JBL calls "Pure Bass Sound," driven by dynamic drivers tuned for rich, deep tones. Whether you are listening to classical pieces that require clarity or high-energy tracks that need thumping lows, the 20 Hz to 20 kHz frequency response covers the full spectrum. The Bluetooth 5.3 connectivity ensures a stable connection with low latency, and the Smart Audio & Video feature lets you optimize the output specifically for gaming or video consumption. This level of customization suggests a device built for media consumption where fidelity matters.

Battery performance is where this model truly separates itself from many competitors. You get up to 70 hours of continuous playback with Bluetooth enabled and noise cancellation turned off. Even if you run the noise cancelling constantly, you still receive roughly 44 hours of use. A quick five-minute charge provides three additional hours of listening time, which is a lifesaver for long study sessions that run late. The physical design supports extended wear with soft ear cushions and a padded headband, while the lightweight plastic construction keeps the overall weight manageable. For the user who values endurance and immersion above all else, the JBL Tune 670NC is a powerhouse.
The LOBKIN Open Ear Headphones take a completely different approach, prioritizing safety, comfort, and versatility over isolation. These are not traditional earbuds or over-ear cups; they sit open around the ear, using air conduction technology to deliver sound directly to the listener without blocking the ear canal. This design is critical for anyone looking for the best open ear earbuds for study or work in a shared space where hearing colleagues or family members is necessary. Because the ears remain uncovered, there is no pressure buildup or fatigue after hours of wear, making them a viable option for all-day use.
Durability and independence are key selling points here. With an IPX7 waterproof rating, these headphones can withstand heavy sweat, rain, or accidental splashes, making them suitable for intense workouts. The enclosure combines ABS plastic, metal, and liquid silicone, resulting in a robust build that feels secure during movement. The titanium alloy frame is incredibly light at just 26 grams, ensuring that the clip-on design stays put without digging into the skin. Unlike bone conduction models that vibrate against the skull, LOBKIN uses directional audio delivery to minimize leakage while protecting privacy, though the open design inherently means more sound escapes than a closed-back model.
Perhaps the most unique feature is the built-in 8GB storage, which allows you to store approximately 2000 songs directly on the device. This turns the headphones into an independent music player, so you don't need to carry your smartphone while running or cycling. They also support dual-device connectivity via Bluetooth 6.0, allowing seamless switching between two connected sources. The microphone utilizes Environmental Noise Cancellation (ENC) to keep your voice clear during calls even in windy conditions. If your primary goal is staying active and safe while enjoying audio, these best clip on earbuds for study or outdoor activities offer a freedom that sealed headphones simply cannot match.

In my opinion, the JBL Tune 670NC is the superior choice for the specific goal of studying. While the LOBKIN offers excellent utility for athletes, the ability to block out distractions with its Adaptive Noise Cancelling is essential for academic focus. The massive 70-hour battery life means I rarely worry about charging, and the sound quality is significantly better for long-form content. However, if your lifestyle involves constant movement or you prioritize safety outdoors, the LOBKIN is the safer bet. For a stationary, focused session, I would buy the JBL Tune 670NC every time.
