The mission of the Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps (AFROTC) is to “develop premier leaders of character for the Air Force”. AFROTC cadets will be working towards commissioning as a Second Lieutenant in the US Air Force while developing the quintessential skills to become a competent Air Force leader. These cadets will also learn the skills and ways to look out for their wingmen.

Cadets participate in Aerospace Studies Classes, Leadership Laboratory, and Physical Training. Additionally, the ROTC program gives back to the Corps, campus, and community through Professional Development Training, cadet organizations, and service projects. These activities are designed to offer cadets a glimpse of the active-duty life before they enter. Cadets use these opportunities to decide which career path (Air Force Specialty Code or AFSC) they wish to pursue

Leadership

JBB actives constantly practice our squadron motto of "leading from the front" by seeking the opportunities that allow us to keep pushing our leadership capabilities as well as represented the talent within our squadron. Every semester, half of wing staff consists of JBB actives as well as numerous positions at the flight, squadron and group level within the detachment. JBB actives have a colorful record of selection and participation in rigorous ODT’s, scholarships and AFSC’s.

Detachment Morale

JBB Squadron hosts activities for the wing throughout the fall semester to boost morale among all cadets, regardless of their membership in AAS or SW. These opportunities to get to know the cadets that we work with outside of a professional setting always have huge turnouts. We start off the fall semester with an annual spike ball tournament at Mission Beach where cadets enjoy snacks, sun, and friendly competition. Before the wing heads home for Thanksgiving break, JBB hosts a Friendsgiving where everyone can contribute to the potluck. Traditionally, the meal is followed by a super fun night of karaoke. Lastly, our JBB AAS squadron and SW chapter host a tailgate right before we participate in March-On along with our fellow Army, Navy, and Marine ROTC units. The wing enjoys food and frisbee before we march inside the stadium to salute our national anthem before the football game starts.

Community Service

Like any other student organization, the JBB Squadron prioritizes community involvement through volunteering within our local community and contributing to the Arnold Air Society and Silver Wings Joint National Project every year. We hold community service events every month, with a special focus on helping those who have sacrificed for our country.
