Let me help make your film great. I bring a lifetime of music to your project. taylorsolllccx@gmail.com
My life as a musician started with my first drum set, and teaching myself to play it at the age of 12. This start created a solid rhythmic foundation. During my adolescence I played drums in different rock bands. Upon enlisting in the Army, since I couldn’t have a drum set in the barracks, I bought and taught myself the guitar. At the age of 20 I was hurt in a parachuting accident, which gave me months on crutches with nothing to do but improve on my guitar playing.
Every musician has that “AH-HA!” moment when they make a breakthrough. One that stands out for me was learning the solo to Pink Floyd’s “Another Brick in the Wall II.” Learning this solo opened the door of pentatonic scales on the guitar for me. Next listening to prog bands, and classical composers inspired me to teach myself the piano.
I then started a project similar to Pink Floyd’s The Dark Side of the Moon synced with The Wizard of Oz, (or my favorite; Pink Floyd's Echoes synced with 2001 A Space Odyssey.) My project was an entire soundscape of original music that syncs up with the movie 12 Monkeys.
My 12 Monkeys soundscape gave me the bug for film composing. I like to use both traditional orchestra instruments, and also modern instruments and styles. I don’t come into a project with a preset of rules. I let the story and the emotion of the film’s scene dictate the music and the instruments used. Music in film can have as much impact on a scene or story as the acting and cinematography. I am influenced by everything; from Pink Floyd and Depeche Mode to SRV and Hendrix, Vangelis and Zimmer to Elfman and John Williams, Holst and Stravinsky to John Barry and John Carpenter.
Let me help bring your vision to life with a great score. My goal is to work with film makers, and collaborate to make something great.
