In Jay's own words
Here are a few of the projects that I have been a part of while I have served you on City Council:
City Hall constructed in the historic Redmond Union High School
Fairgrounds being built at current location moved from downtown Redmond
5th/6th Street Remodel to one-way streets
Highland/Glacier Remodel to one-way streets
Highway 97 Bypass
Maple Street Bridge, across the Canyon
Centennial Park, Hope Park
Remodel of Historic Redmond Hotel
Police/Safety Building
Redmond Airport Expansions
Sewer Plant being expanded to the Wetlands Complex
There are many important projects ahead as our city continues to grow. That growth must be planned carefully and responsibly, with strong involvement from the community. The decisions we make today affect not only our lives, but the lives of our children and future generations. When the city and its residents work together, we can guide that growth in a way that benefits everyone.
Projects such as the Airport Terminal Expansion will continue to be major economic drivers for Redmond. Attracting and expanding businesses in the large-lot industrial area south of the Fairgrounds and Juniper Golf Course will strengthen our tax base and create good local jobs. Completing the Wetlands Sewer Project will provide a critical service that supports healthy, well-planned development.
It is also essential that we update our Transportation System Plan so it keeps pace with the rapid construction of new neighborhoods and subdivisions. Planning ahead will help reduce congestion and ensure our infrastructure meets the needs of a growing city.
In addition, Redmond should continue to support the State of Oregon in building the CORE3 first-responder training facility on the east side of town. This project will bring significant economic activity and long-term benefits to our community.
