I am a Toronto-based artist who primarily works in the art department of Toronto and Hamilton's lively film industry. In the art department, I am able to combine my love for art and storytelling, bringing life and detail into characters and scenery.
I love to explore many different art mediums, but mainly create oil portraits. I fell in love with art in the pandemic lockdowns and have been painting ever since.
I paint mainly with oils, preferring a smooth and malleable piece that can be sculpted as I create. I often begin many of my pieces going in blind, starting with a reference photo and a loose idea. I like to let my subconscious mind play and discover a painting as I create it. Throughout this process I improvise colour palettes, textures, and backgrounds. I take breaks between painting sessions before finishing and fully discovering a piece, returning days to months after initial sessions to complete a painting. Looking at a completed painting rewards me with a discovery of my unconscious thoughts about a subject or a reference photo. My self portraits, in particular, reveal my feelings of self image at the time of painting. Both my journeys in self discovery and art are incomplete, and I invite other artists to witness these explorations alongside me.
