Welcome to the about tab, here you can find out about what Jay Birds is about and how it came to be. For starters, Jay Birds is a local NJ smithy that practices this old tradition of metalworking. After being practiced for ages the industrial revolution killed the important role of town smith. However, after researching medieval jobs I strived to fulfill the role of town smith yet again. especially with the quality of machined tools depreciating as demands increase. That brings us to how Jay Birds came to be. It first started when I was younger, about 9 or 10, I was watching and reading videos about medieval knights. While most people thought of knights as the hero of the ages very few realized that if not for the smith behind the creations of their armor and weapons they would be all talk no action. Naturally, I started with a passion to make swords and blades, however, that slowly subsided as I learned more about smiths and their importance in society as they made tools and hardware that supported community and great empires.
