Synthesis of nanomaterials

Synthesis of multicomponent and multifunctional nanomaterials. By selecting the materials, the shape and size, and the configuration (core-shell, Janus, etc.) it is possible to control the optical, magnetic, and electronic properties.

Nanobiomedicine

Applications of nanomaterials to diagnosis and treatment (theranostics): Drug delivery, cancer tumor photothermia and magnetothermia treatment, contrast agents for tomographic imaging, tissue engineering composites with electric and magnetic stimuli, etc.

Sensing

Nanomaterials design ultra-low limits of detection using synergistic approaches of magnetic capturing and accumulation, and SERS sensing, applied to medicine, environment, etc.

Environment

Nanoparticles have shown an enormous potential to degrade contaminants of emerging concern (CECs) through catalytic processes. Combining different materials in nanoscale particles is an efficient way to degrade CECs through photocatalysis using sunlight energy as the main power soursce.
