Dr. Joe Assouline, Ph.D, Pi
Dr. Assouline has held various academic positions in Medicine and Engineering at the University of Iowa. His main research focus has been to develop novel target molecules and bioactive markets. Starting during his tenure at the National Institutes of Health (Bethesda, MD), he began his quest for a reliable market technology which will serve simultaneously as a diagnostic tool and therapeutic alternative. This led to a number of innovation designs which culminated in the development of a series of nano- scale multifunctional particles with applications in biotechnology and medicine.

His laboratories and research
Dr. Assouline is the director of BioMedTrix and NanoMedTrix Laboratories for Regenerative Tissue Engineering and Nanoscale Biotechnology at the University of Iowa. He has tought courses in regenerative biomedical engineering and nanotechnology. He formerly advised and mentored students and various level at the institution. He has a long interest in the regenerative, repair and remodeling processes of tissues and organs. These studies often lead to the study of cancer and metastatic proliferation. His work is performed at BioVentures Research Park where the nanoparticle synthesis and manufacture take place.
NanoMedtrix, LLC is spin off of fundamental research on the development of multifunctional nano-scale tool for diagnostic and therapeutic. Based on nanoparticle technology this distinctive engineered platform has been used in a variety of biomedical applications. In cancer, NanoMedtrix material has been design to target solid tumors such as epithelial, bladder, colorectal and neural tumors. The same nano-compounds are adjustable to provide valuable information on the disease process of multitude illnesses. What makes approach unique is that target can be validated non-invasively and sequentially by scanning and microscopic methods for an optimized prognostic. (See brochure)
