about me
I am a PhD candidate at Stanford Linguistics and investigate questions from syntax and semantics from computational and formal perspectives. I hold a Doctoral Fellowship from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada.
I am excited about how we can use recent advances in neural network language models to test theories from theoretical linguistics [1], and on the flip side, how we can incorporate more theoretical knowledge to make models safer, more robust, and more interpretable [2].
My work in formal syntax concerns cross-linguistic constraints on structure building, movement, and Agree. I have investigated this drawing on fieldwork in Igbo, a language spoken in Southeastern Nigeria, and the structure of its left periphery [3][4], as well as in Turkish, with a focus on coordination structures and person hierarchy effects [5].
I work mainly with Christopher Manning and Boris Harizanov. Previously, I did my undergrad at McGill in Linguistics and CS, where I worked with Siva Reddy and Martina Martinović.
I have hosted a couple podcast episodes for the McGill AI Society which you can check out here!
