I am a fourth-year Ph.D. student in Sociology at Yale University. I am a sociology and population health researcher-in-training.
My research examines place-based determinants of health across the life course, asking how the environmental, state policy, economic, and welfare contexts people live matter for their health outcomes, with particular attention to older adults' health and population-level health disparities.
Along this line of research, my more recent work investigates spatial inequality in health from the perspectives of urban mobility and neighborhood connectedness. I apply quantitative, computational, and social-network methods to mobile-phone, Google Street View, Census, administrative, and survey data.
Relatedly, I am interested in the evolving nature of intergenerational family relationships across the life course, particularly in how family ties shape health and well-being in later life. My work in this area examines topics including grandparents’ involvement in childcare, spousal spillovers of early-life disadvantage, and daily active engagement.
My articles have appeared in Health & Place, The Journals of Gerontology, Series B: Psychological Sciences and Social Sciences, The Gerontologist, Social Science Research, and Ageing & Society. I also serve as the newsletter editor for the ASA Section on Aging and the Life Course.
I am a huge soccer fan. You'll Never Walk Alone!
