Responsible for educating individuals with autism and other behavioral disorders using Applied Behavior Analysis and Verbal Behavior techniques in the classroom setting. Develop and implemented numerous behavioral and instructional behavior programs. Mentor various professionals in creating effective Universal Design for Learning environments. Analyze data to ensure student progress using a variety of assessment tools. Provide support to Building Administration in purchasing and installing technology to meet academic rigor in the 21 century classroom. Plan and integrate college and career oriented programs for Community Based Instruction. Launched a Parent Training in the Home Environment program to increase independence at home and positive academic behaviors for children with autism. Outreach to community leaders and corporate businesses to include our students into their programs and work force.
Lead the school in learning with project-based strategies, emerging technologies and CCSS alignment. I organized and presented in professional developments for faculty that prepared students for a wide variety of careers in corporate, government, K12, higher education & non-profit sectors. As well as provided faculty training in a broad range of technological expertise while exploring the use of current and emerging technologies for effective and efficient teaching in a dynamic, global society to succeed in college and career.
Responsible for aligning content areas and educational programs to the Core Curriculum and prepare students for college and career pathways. I utilized a 21st Century Community Learning Center grant and a partnership with St. Peter’s University to implement a highly rigorous STEM program. Used career clusters and pathways to drive a rigorous academic real world application to learning. Energized teachers’ capabilities through professional development to identify best practices and techniques that will be implemented with fidelity. Charged with developing a highly structured behavioral program for students with Autism using Applied Behavior Analysis and Verbal Behavior that is driven by the students’ I.E.P. Guided the teachers of the BD-2 (Behavioral Disordered) Program to provide a strong therapeutic component which teaches and reinforces social and emotional behaviors necessary for a positive classroom setting. Students achieved academic success through a planned interdisciplinary approach.
Leading a specialized high school designed for students who require a comprehensive psychotherapeutic approach while receiving a rigorous academic course of study. Created an instructionally engaging climate and culture for students to be able to experience a traditional high school learning environment in a non-traditional program. We blended academic rigor with comprehensive clinical and psychiatric services, social emotional learning, college and career transition services, as well as a wide range of STEAM enrichment programs to meet students at their high levels of learning. Built partnerships with local Community Colleges as well as Universities with an academic curriculum that is fully aligned to the New Jersey State Learning Standards. Closed the school to home gap with creative incentives that encompassed a learning environment that involved families. Analyzed measurable data to drive instruction and modify our ever-changing academic needs.
Transformational role in restoring, remodeling, and revitalizing a school that specializes in servicing students with medical needs and have multiple disabilities. Provide enriching instructional activities that are tailored to the students IEP. Infuse the students’ Related Services that increases independent life skills. Increased emotional stability for students as well as the educators. Implement a robust Career, Technical, Education program for students to transition into adult life.
Expanding Graduate Students in cohorts in the field of General and Special Education. Focus on instructional strategies, implementing inclusion programs, working with families, and navigating the community at large. Ensuring that candidates are well prepared not only in theory but in practice.
