I grew up in Sutherland, Nebraska, and graduated from Sutherland High School in 1999 as a member of the last class of the 20th century. During my time in Sutherland, I participated in a wide variety of activities, an experience that shaped my belief in well-rounded student involvement. I earned All-State honors in football and basketball, competed in track and baseball, and took part in band, choir, show choir, speech, and academic competitions at Mid-Plains Community College. I also served my community as a volunteer and official with the Sutherland Youth Program, was a member of the National Honor Society, and served as a D.A.R.E. mentor for elementary students.
After high school, I attended Hastings College, where I majored in Physical Science Education and continued competing as a member of the football team. My time at Hastings was both challenging and rewarding. I was honored to be a two-time Academic All-American, an All-GPAC quarterback, and an Honorable Mention All-American. I also served as a Resident Assistant in Bronc Hall for two years, gaining leadership and mentorship experience that would influence my future career. My years at Hastings instilled in me a deep appreciation for teamwork, discipline, and service.
I began my teaching career at Wood River Public Schools, where I taught Physical Science, Chemistry, Physics, and Anatomy and Physiology, while also serving as an assistant football coach and the head 8th-grade boys basketball coach. After the 2003–2004 school year, my wife and I made the decision for me to pursue another passion, healthcare. I attended Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa, completing the five-year program in just three and a half years and earning my Doctorate of Chiropractic (D.C.) in 2007. I specialized in the Gonstead system and returned to Hastings to open and operate my own chiropractic practice, which I ran for 10 years.
While practicing, I remained connected to education. In 2007, I served as an assistant football coach at Hastings College, working with quarterbacks. After that season, a friend asked me to help rebuild the football program at Doniphan-Trumbull Public Schools, where we developed it into a perennial powerhouse, including a C-2 State Championship in 2013. Working closely with high school students reignited my passion for education, and in 2011, I returned to the classroom full-time at Doniphan-Trumbull. Over the next several years, I served as a teacher, coach, Activities Director, and eventually as the 7–12 Principal.
In 2020, I accepted the role of Superintendent at Osceola Public Schools. My family and I are grateful to be part of this community. I am committed to cultivating a positive district culture, building strong relationships, supporting excellent academic and extracurricular programs, and ensuring that every student has the opportunities and support they need to succeed. Osceola is a special place, and I look forward to continuing to serve and contribute to the growth and success of our school district and community.
I am currently serving as the Superintendent of Osceola Public Schools, a position I have proudly held since 2020. Education has always been central to my life, whether as a student, teacher, coach, administrator, or community leader. The opportunity to serve the students, staff, and families of Osceola is one I value deeply.
