I grew up in Sutherland, NE. I attended Sutherland Public Schools, graduating in 1999, the last class of the 20th century. While in Sutherland, I participated in numerous activities. I was an All-State Football and Basketball player, I participated in Track and Baseball. I also was part of the band, choir, show choir, speech team, participated in academic competitions at Mid-Plains Community College, worked for the Sutherland Youth Program as a volunteer and as an official, was part of the National Honor Society, and a D.A.R.E. (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) mentor for elementary students.
After high school, I attended Hastings College where I majored in Physical Science Education. Physical Science has always been a passion of mine, along with competing. While at Hastings College, I competed as part of the Football Team. I was a 2-time Academic All-American, an All-GPAC quarterback, and Honorable Mention All-American. I was also a Resident Assistant at Bronc Hall for two years. While at Hastings College, I played on some very good teams and was lucky to have the opportunities and experiences that I was able to.
Upon graduating from Hastings College, I began my teaching Career at Wood River Public Schools. I taught Physical Science, Chemistry, Physics, Anatomy and Physiology. I was also an Assistant Football Coach and Head 8th Grade Boys Basketball Coach. I taught for the 2003-2004 school year. After that, my wife and I made the decision that I would explore my other passion in life which was healthcare. I decided to move on and continue my education at Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, IA. I spent the next 3-1/2 years completing the 5-year program at Palmer College and received my Doctorate of Chiropractic (DC) in 2007. I studied the Gonstead system of Chiropractic and began a practice in Hastings NE, which I owned and operated for 10 years.
During the Fall of 2007, I was an assistant coach at Hastings College and worked with Quarterbacks. At the end of that season, I was asked by a friend to help rebuild the football program at Doniphan-Trumbull Public School. Through working with high school students, I realized that my true passion was in education. I returned to the classroom in 2011 at Doniphan-Trumbull where I worked as a teacher, coach, Activities Director and most recently 7-12 Principal.
In 2020, I was offered and accepted a position as the Superintendent of Schools at Osceola Public Schools. My family and I are excited about the opportunity to live and work in this community and hope that the relationship will be productive and long-lasting.
