Jason Ely

One has to remember here that I don't have access the Baltimore Sun Archives between 1985 to 1990.

So, we begin at the October 24, 1997 edition of the Baltimore Sun, where we find that Jason A. Ely, of the 4000 block of Dorchester Road in Baltimore County was bludgeoned and his body stuffed into the trunk of a 1982 Toyota Cressida.  The car was left in the 4500 block of Wetheredsville Road with the keys in the ignition and a burning cloth inserted in the gas tank on New Year's Day in 1988.

In 1997 Police arrested 2 people and were seeking a third in the 10 year old slaying.   Investigators said the three people have been suspects since 1988. One of them, police said, had been summoned to a grand jury investing the killing that year but never showed up.   Police said new information gave detectives enough evidence to charge the suspects.

Now in the July 9, 1998 edition of th same paper we learn that a 38-year-old Lochearn woman pleaded guilty to first-degree murder in city Circuit Court yesterday for luring a Baltimore County drug dealer to her home, where he was robbed and beaten to death in 1988.  JoAnn Petty of the 6800 block of Alter Street pleaded guilty before Judge Clifton J. Gordy, admitting that she called Jason A. Ely, 21, and told him she had someone ready to buy drugs from him at her home, prosecutors said.

Her brother, Willie Petty, 36, of Berlin, Worcester County, and Jimmie McKoy, 34, of Baltimore pleaded guilty Tuesday to robbing and beating Ely, stuffing his body into the trunk of his Toyota Cressida and leaving it in Leakin Park on Jan. 1, 1988. Sentencing for all three defendants is set for Sept. 25.

A review of the Judiciary Case Search shows that Ms. JoAnn Petty had a theft charge in 1991, Willie Petty has charges for burglary, breaking with the intent to commit a felony, and breaking and stealing.   He made himself comfortable throughout the state of Maryland as he has been charged in several locations.    Willie Petty is a correctional facility pest, he's been charged with theft in 2009 while at the Eastern Correctional Facility.  Jimmie Ray McKoy has been charged with assault and CDS - NOT MARIHUANA POSSESS.

As of 12/2010 JoAnn Petty is no longer residing with the correctional system, Willie Petty currently lives at the Maryland Correctional Training Center in Hagerstown, MD.   Jimmie Ray McKoy resides at the Baltimore Pre-Release Unit on Greenmount Avenue in Baltimore.  Let's hope Mr. McKoy has learned his lesson and behaves,  we wish him luck upon his reentry to society.
