In 2022, Ghassan Barakat founded Nolos Cabinet Multidisciplinaire Inc., a Canadian company that integrates FinTech, InsurTech, and LegalTech. His goal in creating
Nolos was to provide middle-class families with access to financial and legal services that are often out of reach.
As CEO, Jason established a platform that combines a Quebec-based legal firm, a notarial study, and a national financial MGA (Master General Agency) distributing wealth and protection solutions from Canada’s top financial institutions. He built a team of lawyers, notaries, financial planners, and professionals who work together to deliver comprehensive services.
Acquisitions and innovation have driven growth at Nolos. In 2022, Ghassan acquired Skylegal, a legaltech firm in Quebec. In 2023, he launched a charitable foundation focused on access to justice and financial protection for families engaged in estate and legacy planning.
Jason recently acquired a technology company that develops specialized software and applications for public and private institutions. This step enhanced Nolos's technological B2B capacity, strengthening its role in connecting financial and legal services with innovation.
In addition to founding Nolos, Jason Barakat continues to act as a Strategic Senior Consultant. His recent consulting work includes mandates for Chubb Insurance, the world’s largest publicly traded insurance company, and other industry leaders. His expertise covers financial services innovation, integration, B2B2C distribution, and client value creation.
From 2003 to 2021, Jason served as President and Principal Officer with AMF (Financial Market Authorities in Quebec) of La Capitale Services Conseils. He oversaw the company’s transformation as assets under management grew from $300 million to more than $3 billion. His leadership also expanded specialized financial services for Quebec public sector employees.
In 2017, Ghassan became President of La Capitale Financial Security (formerly Penncorp Life Insurance). This national company focused on disability and personal finance solutions for self-employed and blue-collar Canadians. Over three years, he modernized and nationalized the compensation structure, built a culture of inclusion and performance, and restructured operations to improve profitability and client focus.
He also served as President of SSQ Financial Group Distribution for one year. In this role, he led the modernization of retirement financial planning for gray-collar clients, guided post-merger advisor integration, and improved compliance, profitability, and client service.
Jason Barakat’s professional career has always been paired with a strong commitment to community service. For over 20 years, he has participated in the Guignolet de Saint-Vincent de Paul, collecting funds door to door during the holiday season for needy families. He has also supported charitable causes linked to public institutions, particularly in areas connected with retirement planning.
Ghassan has supported initiatives by Canadian bishops and is working to establish elementary and high schools that will serve the community and emphasize generational value transfer. He continues to mentor entrepreneurs and professionals and speaks on subjects such as financial literacy, leadership, and entrepreneurship.
In 2021, Jason partnered with Peartree Canada to help family offices, high-net-worth individuals, and organizations strengthen their social impact through philanthropic planning. Soon after, he founded the Nolos Foundation, an initiative dedicated to giving families access to Justice & Family Legacy Planning. In addition, he contributes his time as a volunteer leader with nonprofit boards and interfaith humanitarian organizations.
Ghassan studied at Concordia University, John Molson School of Business, focusing on finance, business law, and theology. He has also completed studies in securities, investments, exempt markets, estate planning, individual and group insurance, venture capital, and strategic philanthropy. Over the years, he has earned multiple certifications that reflect his commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
