I'm an evolutionary geneticist. My research focuses on the genetics of adaptation and speciation, probing the specifics of how evolution can and does proceed. Using the model yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae and its close relatives, I perform lab evolution experiments and analysis of existing species differences to test evolutionary theory. During my PhD, I worked with Sarah Otto at the Biodiversity Research Centre at UBC, and worked as a postdoc with Duncan Greig at UCL. I then started a BBSRC Discovery Fellowship at the University of Exeter (Penryn), and am now an Assistant Professor at the University of Nottingham.
