One of the most significant milestones in my academic career was participating in the 3rd International Student Research Congress (ISRC) as a Plenary Speaker, an international academic conference that gathered student researchers, educators, and scholars from various institutions and countries to share research findings, innovative ideas, and educational practices.

This study focuses on integrating selected Vedic Mathematics techniques with traditional procedural approaches in teaching algebraic fraction simplification among Grade 7 learners. The research aims to enhance learners' conceptual understanding, computational efficiency, mathematical confidence, and overall performance in algebra.

My journey toward becoming a teacher has been shaped by years of academic preparation, practical experiences, observations, instructional planning, tutoring, and continuous reflection. As a Bachelor of Secondary Education major in Mathematics, I have learned that teaching is not simply the act of transferring knowledge from teacher to student. Rather, it is the process of inspiring learners, building confidence, and creating meaningful opportunities for growth.
Throughout my college years, I have been exposed to various courses that strengthened my understanding of education, including Assessment of Learning, Assessment of Learning 2, Principles and Strategies in Teaching Mathematics, Foundations of Special and Inclusive Education, Teacher and Community, School Culture and Organization, Educational Research, and Field Study courses. These subjects allowed me to understand the complexity of teaching and the many factors that influence student learning.
One of the most valuable aspects of my preparation has been the development of instructional materials and lesson plans. I have prepared detailed lesson plans, daily lesson logs, assessments, worksheets, instructional presentations, and classroom activities designed to promote active learning. Through these experiences, I learned how to align learning objectives, instructional strategies, and assessment methods to create effective learning experiences.
As part of my mathematics specialization, I explored various approaches to teaching mathematical concepts, including problem-solving, mathematical investigation, modeling, and innovative teaching methods. These experiences helped me appreciate the importance of making mathematics meaningful, relevant, and accessible to learners.
I have also participated in classroom observations and field-study experiences that exposed me to real classroom environments. Observing experienced teachers allowed me to witness different teaching styles, classroom management techniques, assessment practices, and student engagement strategies. These observations deepened my understanding of the realities and challenges of the teaching profession.
Another significant experience was conducting free mathematics tutorial sessions for Grade 7 students in a public school. During these sessions, I had the opportunity to interact directly with learners, identify their difficulties, and provide individualized assistance. This experience taught me how to adapt explanations according to students' learning needs and how patience and encouragement can significantly influence student confidence and performance.
My involvement in mathematics-related activities and awareness programs through Mathribe also contributed to my growth as a future mathematics educator. Participating in activities that promote mathematics awareness helped me understand the importance of fostering positive attitudes toward mathematics and encouraging students to view the subject as a valuable tool rather than a source of fear.
