What I ended up doing is using an older version of Daemon tools (The one hosted on RocketLauncher's website) and that has solved the issue for me completely. Kept the install file on a backup HDD in case I ever needed it again ( I do this with all useful tools )

When I use DTAgent.exe is comes up with a .cda exit error when I exit the system, e.g. NEC PC Engine CD. It loads games and plays ok, but on exit it keeps saying error in Daemon tools and has a small .cda file in background with the box saying error next to it.

I just upgraded to win 10 and had the older version. I downloaded the one gigapig posted. Installed which uninstalled my old one then installed the new version 10.2. I selected free license and then unchecked the daemon tools sync offer at the end of the install that it wanted to do too. Rebooted. I use magic engine (I am like almost done with Y's book 2 on TG16CD and dont feel like typing in the long code to keep my save game, anyway I digress). I had to set the path to dtagent.exe in RLUI under the 3rdparty tab and I set the drive letter to E as there is no E drive on my computer in RLUI under the path to dtools. Launched Ys 1+2 and it wanted to install the SPTD driver so installed that and then rebooted. Tested Ys 1+2 again and it launches but doesnt autoplay anymore I had to press my run key to get it to launch the game. I believe previously the games auto launched with out hitting a key.

DAEMON tools was originally a successor of 1_________________________ and incorporated all of its features.[10] The program claims to be able to defeat most copy protection schemes such as SafeDisc and SecuROM.[11] It is currently compatible with Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8, and Windows 10. DAEMON Tools has a special mode for proper operation of copies of discs with advanced protection (SafeDisc, SecuRom and LaserLock, CDCOPS, StarForce and Protect CD), which are used on some discs with games.[12]

I just have the iso as the main application in launchbox, because the typical file extensions are associated in windows (.cue, ,iso .mds etc.) it automatically mounts the iso, no need for any command line. Then in launchbox when you edit the game, under additional apps I add the games executable and tick automatically run after main application.

The application supports Mdx, Mds, Mdf, Iso, B5t, B6T, Bwt, Ccd, Cdi, Bin, Cue, Mono, Cue, Flac, Cue, Nrg, and Isz. It can also create CD, DVD, and Blu-ray images; divide them over several files; and protect them with a password. This new version also supports VHD, a virtual hard drive format that can be used with tools such as VirtualBox or VMWare, and that lets you move drives as if they were files, making it much easier to move around large amounts of information or do backups.

I am looking for a simple software to mount iso images (ccd, cue+bin, etc) for windows xp. I am running a minimal XP, fully compatible with DOS games controlling tunning processes, priority, etc, to get full-speed smoth scrolling with VDM.

This software should be able to access cdda tracks in those images (my computer doesn't have a cdrom unit).

I am not using daemon tools or Magic ISO because those are ad-ware apps wich install resident components even when no image is mounted, and I CAN'T STAND THAT: I control what I run each moment.

Comand line tools are preferred.

system try applets and spyware are the same shit for me in my ideal world. I don't need/want that: in linux & osx, I can mount on demand, without services running. Is that impossible in windows, then? I should've known by now... I can't expectc much from that retarded os.

Windows, Linux, and Mac OS all have completely different ways of doing almost everything, you can't expect everything that works on one (or two) to work in exactly the same way on the others. The fact that you're asking for command-line tools is probably proof that you're doing it wrong; the Windows command line interface is awful, but it isn't supposed to be very useful, you're supposed to use the GUI. Also, any utility that mounts disc images as drives in Windows MUST have at least some kind of resident component in the form of a driver for it to be be able to work at all; you will not find something with no resident components whatsoever, because no such thing can exist.

While you cannot create bootable devices with the Lite versions, you can boot drives with the Ultra and Pro DAEMON disc tools: hard disks, USB sticks, etc. DAEMON allows you to create VHD and TrueCrypt archives with all of the platforms except the freeware.
