◆What is the weather like in January?
January is one of Okinawa's most comfortable months, with daytime temperatures of 65–70°F (18–21°C) and cooler mornings and evenings around 57–63°F (14–17°C). While occasional rain showers can occur, January is generally one of Okinawa's drier months.
◆What should I wear?
We recommend comfortable clothing, walking shoes, and light layers.
A light jacket or sweater is useful for cooler mornings and evenings.
◆What kind of food can I expect?
Meals will feature local ingredients and regional specialties from Okinawa and Ishigaki Island.
The tour offers many opportunities to experience Okinawan food culture alongside its textile traditions.
◆Where does the tour begin?
The tour begins at our hotel in Naha.
Please make your own way from Naha Airport to the hotel. We will meet you there before the Welcome Dinner on the first day.
◆Where does the tour end?
The tour concludes at Naha Airport on the final day.
◆Which airport should I fly into?
Please arrange your arrival flight to Naha Airport (OKA).
◆How do I get from the airport to the hotel?
The hotel is conveniently located just 10–12 minutes from Naha Airport by the Yui Rail.
Get off at Asahibashi Station, which is directly connected to the hotel. Taxis are also available and take about 10–15 minutes.
◆When should I arrive in Okinawa?
You may arrive in Naha on the day of the Welcome Dinner and still participate fully in the tour.
If you would like to arrive a day or more before the tour starts, we can assist with additional hotel reservations. Any extra accommodation costs will be your responsibility, but we do not charge a booking fee for this service.
◆What time should I book my departure flight from Naha Airport on the final day?
We expect to arrive at Naha Airport at around 1pm. We recommend booking a flight departing after 3:00 PM to allow plenty of time before departure.
◆Can I depart from Ishigaki instead of returning to Naha?
Yes. If it is more convenient for your travel plans, you may book your international or domestic flight from Ishigaki Airport (ISG) instead of returning to Naha. We will refund the cost of the included Ishigaki–Naha flight, and we'll be happy to advise you on choosing a suitable departure flight from Ishigaki.
◆What kind of hotels will we stay in?
In Naha, we will stay at two carefully selected, high-quality hotels.
On Ishigaki Island, we will stay in a seaside resort hotel.
◆Will I have my own room?
Yes. The standard tour price includes a private room for each participant.
◆Can I share a room?
Yes. Couples, friends, and family members are welcome to share a room. A reduced tour price is available for shared occupancy. Please contact us for pricing details.
◆How much walking is involved?
This tour does not require extensive walking, hiking, or climbing.
Most activities involve short walks around workshops, museums, and cultural sites.
◆How do we travel between locations?
We travel primarily in a comfortable 10-passenger van. Depending on the destination, we may also use taxis, and in central Naha, we may use the Yui Rail monorail for convenience.
◆Can you accommodate dietary restrictions?
Yes. Please let us know about any dietary restrictions or food allergies when making your reservation.
We will do our best to make appropriate arrangements throughout the journey. In some cases, particularly in smaller local restaurants, options may be limited, but we will work with you to find the best possible solutions.
For travelers with very strict dietary requirements or severe allergies that could pose a serious health risk, this tour may not be the best fit. We encourage you to contact us before booking so we can discuss your specific needs.
◆Do I need prior knowledge of textiles?
No. The tour is suitable for anyone interested in culture, craftsmanship, history, or textiles. No prior textile knowledge is required.
◆I already know a lot about textiles. Will I still enjoy the tour?
Yes. We visit working artisans, workshops, and textile communities that are not widely known outside Okinawa. We believe even experienced textile enthusiasts will find new perspectives and discoveries throughout the journey.
◆Will there be opportunities to purchase textiles?
Yes. Some textiles are still produced as full-length rolls intended for making kimono and cannot be cut into smaller pieces. However, many workshops and shops now offer fabric by the meter or sell smaller remnants and offcuts.
Finding these unique pieces along the way can be one of the pleasures of the journey.
◆Are the workshops suitable for beginners?
Yes. No prior experience is required.
Some activities may be more challenging than others, but local artisans will guide participants through the process step by step. The focus is on learning, experimenting, and enjoying the experience rather than achieving perfect results.
