Japan MotoGP 2021 Canceled, Replaced by United States Series

Jakarta -The 2021 Japanese MotoGP has been confirmed to be canceled this year. The race schedule in the State of Sakura was replaced with the United States MotoGP series .

MotoGP Japan was originally included in the 15th series of MotoGP 2021 . The Motegi Circuit was appointed to host the race which was scheduled to take place on October 3.

However, Dorna as the organizer of MotoGP decided to drop the 2021 Japanese MotoGP. The news was conveyed in a release received by detikSport , Wednesday (23/6/2021) afternoon WIB.

The COVID-19 pandemic is the main reason for the cancellation of the 2021 Japanese MotoGP . The organizers could not ensure the race was held as scheduled, so Dorna decided the Japanese MotoGP series was canceled this season.

"The FIM, IRTA and Dornsa Sports confirm the cancellation of the Motul Grand Prix of Japan. The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and travel complications, as well as the resulting logistical restrictions make it impossible for the event to be held as scheduled," read a statement released by Dorna .

"This means that the event will not be featured on the 2021 calendar. The FIM MotoGP™ Championship hopes to return to racing in front of Japanese fans at their home Grand Prix in 2022."

Dorna also announced the United States MotoGP series which will fill the schedule left by the Japanese MotoGP on October 3, 2021. The race at the Austin Circuit was previously postponed.

Schedule changes also occur in the 2021 Thailand MotoGP . The series was postponed from October 10 to October 17.
